I was looking for information about both an account that me and my boyfriend can put money into and we can't withdraw money for a certain amount of time, and an account that we can both deposit and withdraw together. we are only 18. is this possible if we don't have any credit yet and just got done with high school? please don't talk about how we are too young. just looking for how i can do this. THanks!!!|||Any bank will let you open a joint account. But there is no type of account that won't let you withdraw the money for a period of time. It's your money - they can't keep you from taking it back. And there is nothing you can do to prevent one person from running off with all the money. WIth a joint account, either person can deposit money and either person is permitted to withdraw money.
If you really want to make it tough to take the money out, don't get debit cards, tell the bank you require two signatures on checks to withdraw any money, and open your account at a bank 100 miles away. But if one person calls the bank to request a debit card, the bank will send one.
I have often see people ask about accounts that won't allow withdrawals for a period of time. That's not the problem. The problem is people not having enough willpower to leave the money alone. Just make up your mind you're not going to touch the money. Then don't touch it.|||Yes, any two people over 18 can open a joint account. Just ask your bank.
There aren't a lot of accounts available that act like "black holes" the way you're thinking (CDs are the closest thing to that), but some discipline and automatic transfers to a savings account every payday can help you build up a decent pile of money before you know it.|||You do a joint bank account, though I don't know if you guys can do that...I think it's something only family, or married people can do together =/
